Course Description:
CPTG2201
Advanced Computer Applications
CPTG 2201 - Advanced Computer Applications (3-0-3) This course provides detailed coverage of common computer software applications used in business and industry. It assumes that the student is conversant with basic computer skills and builds on that base. Emphasis is on the application of advanced features of electronic spreadsheets, word-processing and presentation graphics; the fundamentals of database systems; use of the Internet for research.

1101 (C), ENGL 1101 (C), CRIT 1101 (C).
III. Course Outcomes:
Students are expected to obtain a developing level of
mastery of Advanced Computer Application of Microsoft Office 2003:
Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access. Students will demonstrate an emerging level
of knowledge of Microsoft Office 2003. Students should show potential to perform
independently. Students should be aware of the skills required for
successful Microsoft Office 2003 electronic spreadsheet
and Database.

VI. Student Course Requirements:
A.
Attendance and Punctuality:
a.
Regular attendance and punctuality
are expected and necessary to attain maximum success in your studies and your
course grades.
b. An absence does not relieve you of your responsibility for
examinations, skill building exercises, assignments and/or the submission of
any report(s) etc. nor the consequences of a late submission of assignments.
B.
Examinations:
a.
Examinations will cover materials
presented in the textbook.
b. Examinations may have additional questions that offer bonus
points for correct answers. They will only be offered for credit
during the scheduled exam times and will not be available on any make-up
exam.
c.
If a scheduled exam is missed, you
must contact me within two days. If there is a valid reason for missing, a
make-up exam will be scheduled
immediately.
All make-up exams are comprehensive in nature. Failure to do so will result in
a grade of zero for that exam.
d. Incomplete will be given only in rare nonacademic
situations.
e.
Failure to attend the scheduled
final exam will result in a grade of "F".
C.
Withdrawal:
a.
To be qualified for "WP",
you must be doing the necessary work for passing grade and be current in all
assignments, examinations, etc. The college has specific policies
regarding withdrawals. Consult the current academic catalog for
specific policies.
D.
Classroom Participation:
a.
I encourage you to ask questions to
clarify understanding of theories, principles and concepts from the text and
materials provided to you. IT IS IMPORTANT that you study the
assignments and the textbook on a regular basis.
E.

from me should you need extra help in understanding any course material.
F.
Course Changes:
a.
This course syllabus provides
general guidelines for the course. I reserve the right to make periodic necessary
changes to the syllabus; including assignments, timetables, examinations
and projects, etc., in order to accommodate
the needs of the class as a whole and fulfill the goals of the course.
