Math 4020 - Course Project Information

Major features

Course projects will be presented in 2-3 person teams assigned by your professor.
Each team is assigned a topic as indicated in the list at the bottom of this page.
The team prepares a 50 - minute presentation to teach the key ideas of the topic to the rest of the class. Each team member should share equally in the presentation.
The presentations will be given in class on dates assigned by the instructor.
Each team will also prepare 3 questions that relate to the team’s presentation topic and that are appropriate for the final exam. The instructor will use these as a basis for the final exam questions pertaining to the presentation topics.
After all presentations have been given, there will be some class time reserved for questions pertaining to all presentations. Each group should provide solutions to the questions they created.

Assessment

Each student will receive an individual grade on the presentation. The CSU Speaking Criteria will provide the basis for the evaluation of performance for this part. The latest version of these can be found at the following Web site:
http://a-s.clayton.edu/cais/criteria/sp_default.html using a scoring rubric which can be viewed by clicking here. This will account for 70% of the grade for the project.
The team will receive a score based on the three exam questions and written solutions. The written materials will be checked for appropriateness, accuracy, and organization. This will account for 30% of the grade for the project.
