Student Awards
Billy R. Nail Mathematics Award
The Billy R. Nail Mathematics Award is given each spring to a student currently enrolled at Clayton State University.
The recipient must demonstrate exemplary performance in their lower-division undergraduate mathematics courses taken at Clayton State University.
To be eligible for the award, a student must have taken at least three of the five required courses: MATH 1113: Precalculus, MATH 1501: Calculus 1,
- MATH 1113: Precalculus
- MATH 1501: Calculus 1
- MATH 2140: Introductory Linear Algebra
- MATH 2502: Calculus 2
- MATH 2503: Calculus 3
The student must have finished meeting the requirements during the calendar year preceding the semester in which the award is given. For example, the 2011 award will be given to a student who completes by taking their third of the eligible courses in 2010.
Preference may be given to students who have taken and completed more than the minimum requirements for the award. Faculty in the Mathematics will nominate and select the recipient based on grades earned in these courses.
Catherine Cowan Aust Award
The Catherine Cowan Aust Award for Best All Round Undergraduate Performance in a CIMS Major is awarded to a CIMS major with a minimum GPA in all CIMS discipline courses of 3.5, an overall minimum GPA of 3.0, and scheduled graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from CIMS within the calendar year.
