Clayton State University (CSU) recognizes that learning can take place in a variety of settings other than the traditional classroom. Within guidelines established by the University, credit may be earned for some Computer Networking (CNET) classes by selected professional certifications or examinations, as well as by special examinations developed at the University.

The following regulations apply to credit by examination or certification:

1.      A student must meet all prerequisites for a course before credit by examination or experience can be awarded for that course.

2.      Although appropriate credit earned by examination may be applied to meet graduation requirements, such credit may not be used to meet the minimum number of hours required “in residence” at Clayton State University. This regulation applies even if the credit by examination is earned at the same time that the student is in residence for other courses.

3.      Credit by examination is recorded on transcripts at Clayton State University by the symbol K. Grades of K do not alter the student’s semester, Regents’, or Institutional Grade Point Average (GPA).

Other regulations with respect to credit by examination or certification may be applicable. Please see the CSU catalog for complete information.

The table below shows, for a certification that has been earned or an exam that has been passed, the CNET course credit that can be awarded as a result.

Note: Depending on your major and program of study, not all courses apply towards your certificate and/or degree.
