Lab: WebSubmit
WebSubmit is now available for electronic submission of your assignments. WebSubmit replaces the UNIX "submit" command you may have used in your programming, web design, Linux, etc. classes. This application runs in your Web browser and eliminates the need for FTP-ing and logging in to kahuna.
The URL for WebSubmit is http://zidane.clayton.edu/WebSubmit . The first thing you will see is the login screen which looks something like this:

Change your password: The first thing that you'll want to do is change your password, which is your student number by default. Click the link on the bottom of this page that mentions changing your password. There will be a section at the bottom of this page that says "change password". Fill out that information and click the change password button.
Go back to the main page (if you're not already there) and type in your "csu" email address and your new password and hit "Login"
Next, a list of courses will popup (only the courses you are enrolled in that can use WebSubmit will be listed).

Find the course you want to submit a file for and click the link to it under "Course ID" (ITSK2323 in this example).
The current assignments will be displayed for the course you have chosen, listing the name of the assignment, a brief description and the due date. Pay close attention to the due date and time, once the submission period is "Closed", WebSubmit will not allow you to submit any more files for that assignment. WebSubmit goes by the time and date displayed below the greeting message (Good evening, etc.) which is the time on the sever, not the time on your local machine. So if the project is due at 11:59pm and it is 11:58pm on your clock, don't assume that the clock on the WebSubmit computer reads 11:58pm, it may already be at midnight and now after the due date.

Once you are ready to submit files for an assignment, click the link for the assignment under the "Name" column ("Project 4" in this example).
The file submission screen looks similar to this:

There are several things going on here. At the top is the time and date, the name of the project and the class. Below that you will find your Grade and Comments on your project. Once the instructor has graded the assignment you can come back to this screen and see your grade and even read any comments the instructor may have had. The next section shows which files you have already submitted and when they were submitted. Obviously there will be nothing in this section the first time you go to submit a file. At the very bottom is the area to submit a file. Click the "Browse" button to open a File Dialog Box.

Find the file you want to submit, select it, and click "Open". The File Dialog will close and the directory and name of the file you chose will be displayed in the Text Field to the left of the "Browse" button. Click the "Submit" button to submit this file. Repeat this process if you need to submit more than one file for a project.
Finally you will see all the files you have submitted for this project:

You can click the file name and actually view the file. If you accidentally submit the wrong file, click the Check Box next to the file name and then hit the "Remove Checked Files" button; the file will be removed.
Make sure you go back to the main page to log out. If you don't, then your session remains active - which means if someone uses your machine (like in a lab), then they will have access to your account.
WebSubmit was developed by Jon Preston and Scott Taylor.
