iWebFolio Project for Fall 2003

In ITFN 2001, Professional Development Seminar, students prepare a portfolio that documents professional development activities and includes a resume. In ITFN 4003, Portfolio Development and Presentation, student portfolios document significant accomplishments, highlight employment skills and include a resume. For Fall 2003, an exciting new format has been added to the portfolio experience: iWebFolio. Students will use iWebFolio to create a digital portfolio and an electronic resume.

Starting Fall semester, 2003, students in ITFN 2001 and other selected courses will initiate their portfolio in iWebFolio. As they progress through the IT program, they will submit specified assignments in selected courses directly into iWebFolio for grading and review. iWebFolio will serve as a common repository of student work, assessed and reviewed by faculty throughout the student's passage through the Information Technology Career Ladder. Thus, by the time students graduate, they will have, in iWebFolio, a solid tool for marketing themselves and providing potential employers an electronic resume.

Implementation of iWebFolio

Phase-in of electronic portfolio development in iWebFolio will begin Fall semester, 2003. Students who enroll in their first course requiring development of a portfolio component must obtain an iWebFolio account. They will use this account to initiate and continue development of their electronic portfolios regardless of their stage in the IT career ladder. They can systematically add to the portfolio so that by the time they take capstone classes (ITFN 2001, ITFN 2012, ITFN 4003, ITFN 014) they will have created many of the required deliverables for those courses. Compilation of electronic portfolio components in iWebFolio throughout their course of study should prevent loss of important portfolio components and ameliorate the burden of compiling all components during the capstone course.

In summary, new students entering the program will begin the portfolio early on. But during this transition period, students in selected courses will also be asked to purchase an iWebFolio account. By purchasing an iWebFolio account now, these students can begin the process of creating and maintaining the portfolio and will have the required account for submission of portfolio assignments from specified courses.

Courses requiring iWebFolio Fall 2003

The following courses will require students to purchase an iWebFolio account this Fall: ITFN 1201, ITSK 1401, ITFN 1501, ITFN 2001, ITFN 2012, ITFN 2123, ITFN 2601, ITFN 3314, ITFN 4003 and ITFN 4014. All BIT Major Concentration courses will also require an iWebFolio account.
