It is a pleasure to welcome you
to Clayton State University
where we are committed to providing you a well-rounded educational experience.
In the College
of Information and Mathematical
Sciences (CIMS), we take seriously our mission “to develop courses and programs
in information technology, computing, and mathematical sciences to serve the
diversity of students at Clayton
State University.”
We also provide support for evolving disciplines to foster change by “applying
technologies inherent to the information and mathematical sciences to both
enhance student learning and prepare students to participate fully as citizens
of the 21st century.”
CIMS offers degrees leading to
the Associate of Applied Science in Information Technology (A.A.S.I.T), Bachelor
of Information Technology (BIT), the Online Bachelor of Science in Information
Technology (WebBSIT), and the Bachelor of Science in Mathematics (BS).
The Information Technology
program prepares its students to be proficient in the latest technology,
emphasizing both the design, implementation, and use of technology. The
A.A.S.I.T program is incidental to the BIT program, allowing students to
continue their studies toward the baccalaureate without pause. The online
WebBSIT program is offered collaboratively by a consortium of five University
System of Georgia institutions with Clayton
State University
housing the office of the Executive Director.
The B.S. in Mathematics focuses
on the application of Mathematics in computing and other technologically
relevant areas while preparing students for careers in industries that utilize
mathematics and/or computing. The Mathematics Department also offers a minor in
Mathematics and supporting courses for Teacher Education and Information
Technology.
